2026/2027 Programs
Pre-Can
Pre-CanSkate is a component of CanSkate. This 30-minute session is geared for skaters from 3-5 years of age.
The program is a readiness vehicle to prepare skaters to advance to our Club’s Skate Canada CanSkate Program. Pre-CanSkaters work on the essentials needed to move safely and effectively on the ice so that they can rotate through the different learning stations within our CanSkate program.
Colorful teaching aids, props and toys help make the session welcoming and fun for our beginner skaters. Incentives such as stickers and coloring sheets are awarded to the skaters.
Our Pre-CanSkate program is taught by National Coached Certification Program (NCCP) trained professional coaches. Our coaches are assisted by trained program assistants (PA’s) who are volunteering their time to assist in providing a fun, safe, learn to skate program for your skater.
CanSkate
CanSkate is a dynamic learn-to-skate program that focuses on fun, participation, and basic skill development. Based on Sport Canada’s long term athlete development (LTD) principles, CanSkate centers on physical literacy and the fundamental skills needed to take part in any ice sport or to skate as a recreational activity.
CanSkate is for beginners of all ages, children 5+, as well as for those wishing to improve their basic skills whether their focus be for figure skating, hockey, speed skating or just skating for fun.
Action, movement, and fun! Lessons are given in a group format with a coach-to-student ratio of a maximum 1:10. Skaters progress at their own rate and coaches make sessions active using teaching aids, upbeat music and a wide variety of activities that create a motivational environment and promote learning. Badges, ribbons, and other incentives are used to benchmark skaters’ progress and reward effort and participation.
Our CanSkate program is taught by National Coached Certification Program (NCCP) trained professional coaches. Our coaches are assisted by trained program assistants (PA’s) who are volunteering their time to assist in providing a fun, safe, learn to skate program for your skater.

Exercises will include repetition of the following balance, knee bend, weight shifting, stride improvement, forward and backward edges, crossovers, turning and stopping.
Hockey stick is mandatory, equipment is optional.
This program is geared towards U8 and U9 players . If you have any questions if this program is right for you please send us an email.
**Please note this is not a learn to skate program**

Future Star
FutureStars is designed as a bridge from the CanSkate program to StarSkate. We offer this program for skaters who would like to continue the sport of figure skating beyond the CanSkate level.
The session is 45 minutes, including a stroking warm up sharing the ice with some of our StarSkaters. The lessons focus on working on more figure skating skills in a fun environment. Skaters continue to work towards achieving their CanSkate Badge 5, to move up to StarSkate.
Helmets are mandatory for FutrureStars skaters.
Skaters must receive an invitation from Coach Lisa to register in FutureStars.
Our FutureStars program is taught by National Coached Certification Program (NCCP) trained professional coaches.
StarSkate
Our star skate lessons include a stroking session and group lessons which focus on the fundamental skills of figure skating like edges, turns, spins and jumps. Skaters at this level have the opportunity to participate in the Skate Canada assessment program that begin the progression thru StarSkate.
This session is great for skaters who have finished our FutureStars program and would like to continue development in the StarSkate program.
Our Starskate program is taught by National Coached Certification Program (NCCP) trained professional coaches.

Delays: If a third party fails to pay, delays payment, or misses the deadline, the registering member remains legally and financially responsible for the balance to maintain their registration status.
